“On directing and singing acting in the musical theater” by the great masters Luigj and Nikolin Gurakuqi is a study book, where its promotion brought together the artists at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet. Father and son, both together, have a valuable contribution to Albanian art, counting over 100 premieres put on stage by them. This life experience has been summarized in this book, as a valuable manual for the generations to come. “A book that should not be missing in the library of any young artist or director”, says TKOB. This study, the first of its kind in our country, started by Luigj Gurakuqi and continued by his son, Nikolini, on the specificity of musical theater, is based not only on the internal experience of our national opera, but also on international experience. of directing and singing acting in contemporary musical theater, referring to the great opera houses of the West and East, and the great world directors. The promotion of the book was also carried out earlier in Pristina, during a masterclass with director Nikolin Gurakuqi. Luigj Gurakuqi was born on January 13, 1927. He began his artistic life as a chorister in the General State Choir in 1944. During the years at TOB he directed dozens of operas and operettas from the Albanian and international repertoire, such as “Rigoleto”, “Maçoku with boots”, “Flower of memory”, “Mrika”, “Skenderbeu”, etc. His signature is also used for directing all the concerts organized by TOB, the Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances, up to the concerts of amateur groups, where he has also played the role of conference host. The work as a director did not take him away from teaching. He died on September 13, 2006.
