Anyone who shares photos and videos can agree that AirdDrop is a fantastic option, but the fact that it’s only used by Apple makes it a bit limited. Now, this idea seems to be developed by WhatsApp.
According to WABetaInfo, the platform is working on a new update that will allow users to share photos and videos with the devices next to them.
The option has not yet reached the testing stage so it is not known when it will be available, but there are some details about it.
Users have to shake the phone to activate it and be close to the other person. The latter must also open the application and shake the mobile phone to see and accept the request.
It is not yet known how close it should be. In the case of AirDrop it is 9 meters.
All photos and videos will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption. Mobile numbers will remain private when users share photos and videos with people who are not in their contact list.
It is still unclear whether they will automatically download to the gallery or will only work via Bluetooth. Currently, WhatsApp allows the sharing of 100 photos through messages, so we will have to wait to see what innovation this update will bring.
