The Commission for Education and Public Information Media has started discussions on changes to the book law. The proposed additions and changes to the law were presented at the online meeting in the Committee for Education and Public Information Media led by MP Evis Kushi, where the general secretary of the Ministry of Culture Zerina Bruci summarized the changes that are reflected in it. Another change concerns the promotion of the publication of books for persons with disabilities by publishing houses, in addition to the publication of works of national, historical, cultural and scientific importance. As a result of the changes, the influence of the National Book and Reading Center is also strengthened, where the Registry of Publishers will also move. While the head of the NKLL, he will also be part of the National Book and Reading Promotion Council. In the following days, there will be three more sessions, where interest groups will also be present for the changes in the book law. In the framework of the improvement of the legislation in the field of books, as well as being triggered by the marked decline in interest in books and the need to promote the culture of reading, the Ministry of Culture previously presented for public consultation the preliminary draft of the changes in law no. 9616, dated 27.9.2006 “About the book in the Republic of Albania”. The draft law was prepared by representatives of the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with interest groups in the field of books.
