On the 125th anniversary of the birth of Lasgush Poradec, a cultural event dedicated to the poet took place in the National Library. During the event organized by the National Library of Albania and the Austrian Embassy in Tirana, the special edition of the well-known literary magazine “Lichtungen” of the Land of Styria, which is dedicated to the famous poet, was presented. In the bilingual magazine (German and Albanian) the poems of Lasgush Poradec can be read for the first time in German, alongside the texts of contemporary Albanian and Austrian authors. As part of this activity, the exhibition titled “Lasgush Poradeci on the 125th anniversary of his birth” was opened. This activity took place with the participation of the deputy director of the National Bank of Greece, dr. Etleva Domi, Ambassador of Austria in Tirana Mr. Christian Steiner, director of the Graz State Library, Mrs. Katharina Kocher-Lichem, visual artist, Lori Lako, publisher of the magazine “Lichtungen”, mrs. Andrea Stift-Laube, the Albanianologist Mr. Robert Pichler, translators, publishers, researchers, students, etc. Lasgush Poradeci (real name is Llazar Sotir Gusho) was born on December 27, 1899 in Pogradec. He is the most outstanding lyricist of Albanian letters. Lasgush Poradeci left behind a beautiful creativity, which had won the heart of the reader and attracted the attention of some prominent researchers of our culture such as Eqerem Çabej, Skënder Luarasi, Mitrush Kuteli, Sabri Hamiti, Ismail Kadare, Rexhep Ismajli, etc. As an outstanding personality and a true poet, he never submitted his art to the demands and aims of the dictatorship. Only in 1989 could his complete work be published. On November 12, 1987, Lasgush Poradeci died, leaving behind a creator who today has many fans.
