The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj hosted two boxing champions, Ermal Hadribeaj and Muhamet Qamili. HE appreciated the sacrifices and achievements of two well-known athletes, who represent the red and black colors, as he described them as the best ambassadors of the country.
“I am glad to meet Ermal after so many years, now that he is world champion. Today I say that I am lucky to have known you before others did. I am really proud of what you have achieved and to see that you fought with dignity against a very strong opponent. I am truly grateful! Each of us, regardless of what they have from duty, what they have from passion, is an ambassador of this country and when people look at success stories they say: ‘This is an Albanian,'” said Veliaj.
Like Ermal Hadribeaj, the young but talented champion, Muhamet Qamili, has achieved high results in Italy and in the international arena.
“I am very proud of the new generation that is coming. Your effort in Rome has been rewarded. When I see that there are Italian athletes who become Albanian citizens, of course it makes me very happy, but I can’t hide that I am super proud that despite the offers, despite the temptation to be part of a big country and maybe, let’s say, the finances strong, each of you has chosen to carry our flag”, Veliaj added.
The Mayor said that today it is important that every Albanian through his work promotes Albania wherever he lives.
“Today, Albania is not at war, there is no need to defend the homeland with rifles, but every gesture that encourages what is the ‘brand’ of Albania, our red and black flag, and makes the rest of us feel proud is worth it. Consider that as we met 7 years ago, when you looked at an older generation and took courage from them, today there are chicks who look at you on TV and say: ‘They made it and they weren’t on the red carpet, no they had famous parents, they didn’t grow up in Bllok”, declared Veliaj.
